This edition exists so that two hundred people can own a piece cut and finished entirely by hand.
The campaign covers the wood and the hours — not a factory, not a mould, not a shelf of stock.
Each piece is made after you order it. Nothing here was pulled from a box.
Four steps. All by hand.
The board is marked and cut down to the parts that will become a tower and a box.
Every surface is worked by hand until the grain lifts and the edges soften.
Oil is rubbed in and left to sink, drawing the colour up out of the wood.
A final coat of wax is worked over the whole piece and buffed by hand.
The assembled system, the tower inside, the box open, the grain up close, and the whole thing at rest.
I work alone, in a small workshop in southern Italy.
I make each Smart System after it is ordered, so no two are the same.
I finish every piece by hand — I do not own the machines that would make this faster.
